Can you drink tap water in Laos?

Generally no. Tap water in Laos isn’t safe to drink. Chemicals, agricultural waste, sewage, and aging pipelines can damage water supplies. Even in Vientiane, which boasts the country’s finest water supply, the water remains unsafe to drink.

When it comes to drinking water in Laos, most convenience stores and supermarkets sell bottled and filtered water. Tap water should always be avoided unless it has been previously boiled.

Milk in Laos is unpasteurized, therefore look for powdered or canned milk, which may also be obtained at local supermarkets. Eating out in Laos, particularly street cuisine might be difficult to assess. You should be right as long as your veggies, meat, and seafood are properly cooked.
